We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer to join our team to prepare and coordinate engineering design calculations and submittals for the product lines listed above as well as provide technical support to estimating and production.
A' Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
A' A' A' oA' A' Perform structural designs for precast box culvert, vaults, slabs, and other specialty items.
Prepare, stamp, and sign calculation packets for submitting to customers.
Create production drawings once submittals have been approved.
oA' A' Manage production and submittal drawings for all stock and standard items.
oA' A' Prior to bidding and/or submittals, review custom projects with the sales team for design efficiencies from a production standpoint.
oA' A' Perform pre-bid, preliminary designs for box culverts, walls and unique structures to help the sale team provide the most competitive bids.
oA' A' Manage the Engineering QueA' (engineering and drawing schedule) to ensure submittal drawings, calculations and production drawings are completed in a timely manner.
Coordinate with outside engineering services as needed.
oA' A' Review designs and drawings performed by outside engineering firms.
oA' A' Meet with operations and plant managers as needed to discuss design and drawing related questions.
oA' A' Maintain a working knowledge of plant operations, as it plays a major role in developing the most efficient designs.
oA' A' Stay up to date on precast industry's standards and innovations.
Additional Duties and
Responsibilities:
Write letters and/or provide technical assistance to customers as needed for job specific issues.
Work with the operations team and steel fabrication shop to design custom formwork when needed.
Manage and train future members to the engineering / technical department if required.
Minimum
Qualifications:
A' A' A' A' A' A' A' A' A' A' Hold a PE license in MD and/or DEAbility and willingness to become licensed in surrounding states.
Excellent communication skills to deal with customers, engineers, and project owners.
Needs to have a hands onA' personality who doesn't mind spending time in the production facilities or at jobsites.
Able to drive oneself to all Gillespie offices/plants, customer's site/office and any other work-related meetings/events as required.
Ability to use a variety of computer programs, including AutoCAD, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Learn and utilize engineering design programs such as MathCAD, Boxcar, Eriksson, DP Vault etc Previous reinforced concrete design experience required.
Any experience with precast concrete would be a plus.
Self-motivated and organized.
Demonstrated ability to managed multiple projects and priorities, maintain project schedules, and work effectively within a precast team.
Maintains a balanced perspective about change; adapts when necessary while placing value in consistency of processes.
Strongly values relationships and interaction with people.

Qualifications:
Holds a PE license in DC and/or VAPrevious experience with structural steel design.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
