Access Representative - Part-time (Chestertown)

What You Will Do:

Interacts in a customer-focused and compassionate manner to ensure patients and their representatives needs are met.Responsible for the registration of all patients accessing services at Shore Health System and Chester River Health System with emphasis on patient access satisfaction, insurance/demographic verification accuracy, and pre-point of service collections, while continuously maintaining confidentiality, professionalism and ethics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Responsible for accurate scheduling and/or registration of all System patients, while maintaining regulatory and functional knowledge of all information required to register patient types in database to ensure timely & accurate reporting/billing.
  • Responsible for distribution of patient related materials and obtaining patient or designee s signature on all necessary consents; Important Message to Medicare, Observation letter, financial forms, as well as charity application, when applicable.
  • Responsible for collection of patient known cost (copays, deductibles, coinsurance, full costs non-covered/self-pay in accordance with department processes as well as referring patient to financial assistance/patient aid. Will have a full understanding of the system s policies for the resolution of patient financial liabilities and the various options available.
  • Responsible for acquiring pre-certification status on all applicable services, i. e. Same Day Surgery accounts, Outpatient Radiology & Cardiology tests, etc., in accordance with department processes.
  • Coordinates with Nursing Department for bed assignment for Inpatients, Observation Patients, and Surgical Extended Recovery Patients.
  • Coordinates scheduling for System. Ensures proper department has relative information and assists with maximizing schedule capacity.
  • Responsible for utilizing insurance verification tools to accurately verify patients insurance information and maintaining error rate in accordance with department standards.
  • Responsible for cashiering functions as assigned.
  • Understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the patient/customer by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer s needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience throughout the System.
  • Complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations to the best of the employee s knowledge and understanding.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.


  • Don't Be Fooled

    The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
